Treating gum disease in las vegas

If you frequently notice a bad or unusual odor in your mouth and feel pain in your gums, you may suffer from gum disease. Though redness and inflammation are among the more common symptoms of gum disease, you should speak with a dentist about your concerns after looking at other symptoms and common treatments.

Signs of Gum Disease

Gum disease often changes the appearance of your gums and makes your gums look bright pink or red. Many patients also notice some inflammation in their gums and see their gums bleeding after brushing their teeth or flossing. Symptoms may also include bad breath, a bad taste in the mouth and pain. As the disease worsens, the gums can actually move away from the teeth and leave the lower areas of the teeth exposed. You may also find that your bite changes because the disease changed the way your gums support your teeth.

Treatments for Gum Disease

Dentists offer different treatments for gum disease like a fluoride treatment. The dentist will actually brush fluoride onto your teeth to increase the strength of your teeth. They can also offer laser treatments that remove any tartar or plaque from your teeth that can worsen your gum disease. Some also offer root planning and scaling that requires the dentist use a metal tool to adjust the placement of your roots and remove any tartar on the lower parts of your teeth. They may also inject antibiotics directly into your gums to heal your mouth from the inside out.

Take Care of Your Gums Today

A simple trip to the dentist is the first step in treating gum disease. Your dentist can determine the severity of your gum disease and suggest the best treatments for you. Gum disease can weaken your teeth to the point where you need implants or even dentures. The sooner you make an appointment, the sooner you can stop that gum disease.
